Murray Challenge

Unfortunately registration is now closed for this event.

Are you and your Flatcoat up for a challenge??

Then why not come along and join us on 10 September for the inaugural Murray Challenge?

This event is intended to assess Flatcoated Retrievers against the Kennel Club breed standard and also assess their aptitude for Gundog work.

There will be two basic obedience / working assessments and two breed type / conformation assessments each of which will be scored. It is not a competition per se and no prior training or experience is necessary, the emphasis is on the natural talents and breed type your dog already has.

There will be special cash awards for the top scorers in each category and the dog with the overall highest combined score will be declared the winner of the Murray challenge .

Each dog taking part will receive a special rosette and gift from the club and we hope that as many people as possible will come and have a go, perhaps some of you will be inspired to do something more with your dogs once you have a measure of their potential in either, or both categories. But we hope this will be first and foremost a fun event and a chance to meet other likeminded Flatcoat owners, our committee members will be on hand to offer advice and information about both Gundog training and showing your dog. You don’t need to be a member of the Club to take part, the only condition is that your dog is a Kennel Club registered Flatcoated Retriever.

A light lunch will be provided free of charge and refreshments will be available throughout the day.

Further information will be sent once bookings are closed, registration on the day will be from 09:30 for 10:00 start. We hope this will be a successful venture for the club to develop further in the coming years but we do need your support to get it started.
