Flatcoated Retriever Club of Scotland Shuna Trophy Winners
Awarded each year to the dog or bitch owned by a Club member resident in Scotland gaining the most points at championship shows .
1 point for a class win, 2 points for RCC, 3 points for CC and an extra point for Best of Breed or Best Puppy.

**** Championship Show on 19th April 2025 ****
The schedule for our Championship show on 19th April at Lockerbie Ice Rink is now available on Fossedata click here.
We will be having our Limited Obedience Show on the same day instead of its usual October slot so please enter if you can. We will also have Junior Handling Classes.
The Special Awards Classes and 40th Anniversary Stakes mean that there are plenty of opportunities to start collecting points for the annual club show members trophy as places in any class at the club shows count.
If anyone needs help with their entries please contact the show secretary who will be more than happy to assist.
**** Working Flatcoated Retriever Development Programme Training (WFRDP) ****
A series of lessons have been booked using the Flatcoated Retriever Society's 'Working Flatcoated Retriever Development Programme' (link here).
This will be with gundog trainer Steve Leach of Lammermuir Gundogs near Duns in the Scottish Borders.
We will be working on the Foundation Level and dates are all Sundays:
- March 30th 2025
- April 27th 2025
- May 25th 2025
- June 22nd 2025
- July 27th 2025
Each lesson will be three hours in length with two hours actual training at a cost of £50 per session. There will be limited places available.

** Flatcoated Retriever Breed Appreciation Day 10 April 2025 **
´We now have a few more places available.
The officers and committee of the club are deeply saddened to report the loss on the 19th of February of one of founder members and honorary member Helen (Elma) Winton at the grand age of 93.
Always a great supporter and friend to the club, her presence at any of our shows ensured that it was a good day.
Elma and her Braidwynn dogs were hugely successful over many years with some notable champions who left their mark on the breed both here in the UK and overseas. She also had golden retrievers and enjoyed some success with them but the Flatcoats always had priority.
A warm, generous and supportive person who encouraged newcomers to the breed, Elma was always willing to share her knowledge. She had a keen sense of humour and always enjoyed the social side of showing even after she was no longer able to exhibit herself. In addition to being a successful exhibitor, Elma was also a very experienced and knowledgeable judge, she undertook many appointments in the UK and further afield including club shows and Crufts.
Elma was devoted to her family, her husband George who sadly passed a number of years ago, their 4 children, 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She always spoke fondly of her family and we extend our sympathies to every one of them and to her many friends in the breed.
